simple colorful Saturday

Saturdays are indeed marvelous, but some are of course better than others.  When Josh works overtime I usually clean house or do something crafty or go for a walk in the snow. When Josh is not working Saturdays are splendid whether we plan something fun or just lay around the house all day.  Today was a different kind..one that helped us check something off our list of moving forward. Today I finally got my permit..:) yes it's a little late in the game but that's OK. We are now hoping to get my license by summer..oh how great that will be. After that we celebrated with breakfast at Denny's (our favorite place for breakfast) then just went to the mall.
We have this thing where he plays video games and I either do something crafty, read or go on a fashion craze. Tonight was fashion craze..I among many others love pinterest. I found this hair tutorial for wavy hair with the flat iron, so I tried that out and it actually worked. So then I decided lets try on clothes. This may be my outfit for church in the morning ( if you read this please don't judge) I actually kinda liked what I had put together. Josh always asks why I always wear scarves.  It simply pulls an outfit together. Before the scarf I didn't like it and then with scarf it changed the whole look.
Just so you know I never knew how I felt about blogs with pictures of people and their outfits and themselves, but tonight I thought hey why not...I am always up for something new and different even if it is only something I will try never again. I always see looks I like on people well why not actually like a look on me..:) I think if i saw this on someone I would want to wear it. Well my random blog about the random things I like to do on a random Saturdays is concluded...

old skool parenting

As I am sitting here at my desk today researching, reading and listening I stumbled upon a website that is very interesting. I wanted to share my thoughts on the subject. The subject of the particular blog post I read is old skool parenting..should we go back to it? As I read through many of the methods that parents use today and then look at the " old skool" methods there is a pretty big difference between now and then.  I will not ever judge someones parenting methods.  I am not a parent yet so I obvioulsy don't know what you go through. I am trying to learn and trying to understand things for when I do become a parent.
All I will say is I want to raise my children up in the Lord, and in this particular blog the things it lists as "old skool" honestly I think are common sense things that need to still be done in the home. )except for a few) The point is that family is important, and I think there needs to be more family time. Do you know what is going on with your kids at school? What they are thinking? Do you discuss what they learned at church? Like I said I am not a parent, I am not jusdging, and I don't htink any of you are bad parents :) I just wanted to share what I thought about what I read.  Here is the site for you to check out yourself if you would like:) http://www.epicparent.tv/epicparent-goes-retro-returns-to-old-skool-parenting/

I want more..we should all want more

This morning was a really awesome time for me in Kidz church. I had so much fun helping the kids understand what it means to love God and spend time with him. We read in Nehemiah where Ezra got up and read Gods word for hours and hours, and the people listened. the people rejoiced because they then realized how much God loved them. They spent more time listening and worshipping. We learned about the feast of the booths where people who followed God made their own tents and for a whole week stayed their and all that time was spent with God. WHOA! first of all how amazing would that be to not have all the hustle and bustle and to be able to just go away and spend time with God. Anyway it says these people fell in love with God. They spent that week with him and they couldn't get enough of him.
After that week was over they didn't stop..God was their number one. The bible says they fell in love with God. This happened because they spent time with him, and they more time they spent the more they loved him. The more time we spend with him the more we love, and as that love grows we become stronger, bolder and more joyful and we just can't get enough.
I absolutely love this..it is just amazing to me, and yes I have read this many times before but when I was teaching those kids today and they were all just starring at me it was like they got it They wanted this..this love. It was an amazing feeling, and all of us together made a commitment to spend at least 5 minutes a day for a week reading God's word The ultimate truth and see if after that they want more. I want to fall deeper in love with God..

Valentines day

Wow! can you beleive that it is Februaury already..? Time she does fly..It feels like we just celebrated Christmas. Now it is about time to celebrate our very first valentines day as a married couple. I am trying to find a fun creative idea. I really like to do homemade things, and I think Josh likes that to. I already know what I am doing for our anniversary ( can't beleive it's only 1 month away) but that will have to be a secret until then. I have ideas rolling around in my head. I cold write a poem and frame it, little love notes, just buy him something, or somethign corny like you see here. Which obvioulsy is what I am leaning towards because it is something I would do, and it owul dmake him laugh that I chose to be that corny. Although the gift really doesnt matter at all I like giving gifts. I especially like giving fun cheesy gifts to my husband that are hillarious. At the end of the day its about how much fun we had. Life is not all about fun, but why not try to make it as fun as you can. :) This valenties day don't stress over a gift or where to go or what to cook, just do something you both like, watch a love movie ( valenties day) and eat chocolate oh and laugh ALOT! :)
- This came from datingdivas.com and it simply says our love is red hot..yes hillarious. I have to admit I do love it. Hope you all have a wonderful valentines day full of fun and laughter.

preparing for future

Kids are important! (I know I don't have any..yet but someday I will) I do however have about 50 spiritual kids whom I minister to on a weekly basis. Working with kids can yes be rather stressful and overwhelming at times, but no there isnt anything else I would rather do. I love finding crafts and fun things to teach the kids. it's all about having fun you see.(.not quite)
Although it is about fun, (and I do have fun) it is also about preparing kids for their future no matter what their age. Everything you say and do and even how you react to things impacts them. I want to impact the kids I see on a weekly basis in a good way. I want their futures to be bright and wonderful.  I know what I do does not determine what their future looks like, but loving them, having fun, and caring helps. parents, teachers, babysitters whoever you are think about how you are preparing the children in your lives for their future. For those who don't know me I don't have it all together, but I am learning and this is one thing that has been on my heart alot.
May God bless you all :)

calendars

When I take the old calendar down I enjoy looking through it before throwing it out. Today was that day and yes I am a little behind. The 2012 calendar is now up in our apartment. As I looked through the 2011 calendar i was able to enjoy how far I have come, how far we have come, and all the good thigns God has done. This time last year the calendar was full of wedding planning. Wow! am I glad all that planning is over ( it sure was worth it though) I moved out of my parents house which was really hard..
Josh worked second shift at whirpool and I went crazy.  Trying to find new hobbies and things to keep myself busy while he was away. Going from being in a house with people all the time to the one person I lived with being gone was quite an adjustment. I started painting small things for the apartment and blogging. About 4 or 5 months ago Josh started at Honda on first shift. Praise the Lord! :) We have so much time together. I also started crocheting and I really enjoy it.
I am not telling you all of these things jsut for the heck of it but because So much can happen in a year. Marriage, maturity, growth and new hobbies. Honestly I am not artisitic at all really, but I do enjoy creating things for our apartment and for our house someday. I never thought I would enjoy painting or ever learn to crochet. God did some really great things in 2011 and I know 2012 is going to be even greater. It already feels different. :)
* Here is something i jsut finsihed for our bedroom. Yes I kow it isnt anythign crazy, but its fun! :)

priorities

This subject has been on my mind a lot lately, and in everything I do I see that we need to get our priorities straight. What is most important in your life? Do you put those things/those people first? Do you spend too much time on Facebook? We are all to blame for this (yes me too) Sometimes at the end of the day I go over the events of the day and realize I wasn’t productive. I watch Netflix and fill my head with junk or spend too much time on Facebook being nosey. I think really… I spent the whole day I had off of work doing that. How sad? What I am trying to say is that I realize this, and I am working on being a better steward of my time.

God also wants us to not be busy bodies as Christians.  He wants us to relax and enjoy our family and him and the time we get away from our places of work. In all that we do though God should be priority number one, whether you are single, married, have children, or whatever you do God should be first. You should show your children and or spouse that God is the head of the household. You should be that example to your children. Let them know that friends, sports and hobbies are good and fun but make time to come to church, spend time with God, have family time.  Make those things the important things in your life and in your home. I think we can all work on this and I do not think anyone has perfected it yet. We live in a busy world, but God should be our number one and we should train our kids (in my case the kids I minister to) in that way. Know that you can ask God to show you how you can prioritize a little better, and he will help. J
